Vanessa Hudgens got a big surprise Monday night – a group of about 100 friends gathered at East Restaurant & Lounge in Hollywood to celebrate her 21th birthday.Hudgens, decked out in a black mini dress with lace cut-out arms, arrived with beau Zac Efron in a chauffeured Audi Q7, and "when she walked in was completely surprised!" says a guest at the party.
Guests including Ashley Tisdale, Selena Gomez, Brittany Snow, and Corbin Bleu greeted her as she arrived, while DJ Zen Freeman handled the tunes for the night, playing a mix of hip-hop and top 20 hits.
Efron gave a heartfelt speech – wishing Hudgens a very happy birthday and encouraging guests to have a fun night. Partygoers noshed on East signature dishes including the crab cakes and scallops on the half shell while mingling, dancing and having a great time.
Hudgen's red velvet birthday cake was presented to her about an hour into the party. "She seemed overjoyed and grateful for the whole experience," says the guest.
"Zac and Vanessa were adorable together," says another guest. "They were smiling at each other and laughing and are really sweet to each other. Great couple."

E! Online posted an article and a video (seen above) about Vanessa's surprise party. Check it out:Not only is Zac Efron a total babe, he's also a good boyfriend! Just last night, he threw girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens a surprise 21st birthday party at East with about 100 of her closest friends.
"Zac made sure everyone she would want there was there," a partygoer tells E! News, including Selena Gomez, Brittany Snow, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and Vanessa's songwriting team Tim James and Antonina Armato. (Apparently, the doorman isn't up to date on his Disney stars. Watch as he asks Ashley to ID herself and even asks Selena to spell her name before letting her inside the soiree!)
The evening's only drawback? Zac really had a hard time keeping the bash under wraps, according to a restaurant source. "He said doing SNL was easier!" the insider tells us. As for what he bought the birthday girl? Z gave V a brand-new, high-tech digital camera. Let's hope she uses it to take appropriate pictures this time, shall we? About an hour into the party, Hudgens' cake was presented.
“After she blew out the candles she made a sincere speech thanking everyone again and expressing her love for her family and friends,” says our source. “Then the DJ spun Kid Cudi's remix of "Poker Face" and Vanessa danced with her friends.” And while there's no word if Vanessa celebrated her newly legal status with cocktails, our sources say the couple were "really cute" together, dancing and kissing throughout the night. Brittany Snow did give her friend some advice on being 21 in front of the photogs, though. "Drink responsibly and take cabs," she offered. We couldn't agree more!

Vanessa got her wish! Boyfriend Zac Efron escorted Vanessa from her home to her surprise birthday party! The party was at East Restaurant and Bar and some of the people who attended the party include former HSM co-stars Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, and Chris Warren, Jr!
Ashley twittered yesterday (December 14) saying: "Its Nessa's birthday!!! Yay! Goin shopping to get her a present. Woo hoo!".
Monique also twittered after the party saying: "Just got home from celebrating Vanessa's b-day! It was so much fun! I danced, ate, & caught up w/ friends...a perfect night"

Thanks to JustJaredJr, we have more information about what Zac and Vanessa were doing at Joe Fortes restaurant on Saturday night. Here is what JJJ said:
Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens hosted a party for the actress’s Sucker Punch castmates at Joe Fortes Seafood and Chop House in Vancouver, B.C. The casually dressed duo picked out platters of food to serve family style and also mingled with all their guests during the four-hour dinner. “They played musical chairs, going from table to table to speak with all their friends,” a source says. The couple was also “very affectionate with each other” as they enjoyed their meal. Afterward, the group piled into a stretch limo and continued the party at Hudgens‘ hotel.

After two months of voting, Portrait Magazine's Top 30 Under 30 list has been made. Leading the list at the number one spot is Hilary Duff and ending the list at the 30th spot is the band All Time Low. Our very own Vanessa Hudgens made it onto the list at spot 19! It was a bit quiet on the Vanessa Hudgens front this year. All we saw of her was in Bandslam which didn’t do as well as anticipated, but critics recognised the stellar job our girl V did as the intense Sa5m, and attributed her as the reason why the film was a lot more bearable than it would have been. Despite the lack of Vanessa projects available to fans in 2009, her fanbase still kept the faith and were dedicated enough to vote Vanessa into the top 30!
What’s Next: We may have only seen Vanessa in one film onscreen this year, but she did spend the year filming projects for the future. Next July, fans can catch Vanessa in the much anticipated modern day version of Beauty and the Beast in Beastly, alongside Alex Pettyfer. While in 2011, Sucker Punch - which has been described as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns" – will be released and fans can check Vanessa out in that, playing the role of Blondie.
